It's me (but on the internet)!

Melissa Hill

My name is Melissa. I like haiku.

I like other things too. Like my awesome family, roller derby, arts & crafts, reading books & poetry, cooking & gardening, and divining the mysteries of the universe. That last part is what I do now full-time. In my previous lives I have sold crafts, waited tables, wrote obituaries, tended bar, and did some freelance mime.

I don’t mime anymore. It was a dark time.

Frey gurgles. Silly little drooly thing!

I recorded this in my kitchen in 2005 with a 4-track. It was a crazy ghetto set-up to get the damn thing into the computer. I had to buy a microphone from Radio Shack for $12 to make it. :)

There is nothing that ten yards of beautiful new fabric can’t fix.

I was very pleased to find out last night that silversmithing is like riding a bike. I haven’t done anything with metals since I got pregnant with Freyja. When I got to the lab last night I had every intention of working with my copper wire crochet project, but I just started itching to saw some silver. I found this cab in my toolbox and set it easily in 2.5 hours. LOVE. I had to stop at Meijer after class and buy a chain for it. :)
